in collaboration with Afif EL-Khuffash, for the exhibition “Mother”.
This collection of paintings maps the psychological atlas of Matrescence.
It is a quiet exploration of the duality many mothers inhabit. The simultaneous longing to escape and the desperate wish to remain fully present for every fleeting second.
At its heart, this exhibition is a love letter — to early motherhood and to the woman I was within it. A woman I was often too hard on when what she needed most was gentleness. If I could return to those moments, I would tell her everything will be okay. That one day she will ache to visit this time again, if only for one more cuddle, one more kiss, one more bedtime story.
